Todos sabemos que poner una bandera a media asta significa un gesto de respeto y solidaridad, una tradicion para honrar a los muertos. ¿Pero de dónde viene esta costumbre?
Esta costumbre nació en los navíos de la Marina británica en 1612. Ese mismo año fue asesinado el comandante de la expedicion Heart’s Ease, que exploraba las costas de Groelandia.
Para comunicar su fallecimiento al otro navio de la expedicion, la tripulacion colocó la bandera a media asta.
Desde entonces, este gesto se ha extendido como muestra de peasr.
